Sounding Type Brief
During my elective, Typography Fundamentals, in my second year at Monash University, I completed a vinyl cover graphic design project. The aim of this project was to create a cohesive visual identity for an existing album through typography, composition and colour. I responded to Mildlife's instrumental album Automatic, exploring how graphic design can visually communicate sound, rhythm and atmosphere. Through the use of expressive typography, repetition and a carefully considered colour palette, I translated the album's psychedelic, jazz and electronic influences into a cohesive record sleeve and vinyl label design. This project challenged me to think conceptually while applying key design principles such as visual hierarchy, composition and typographic communication, strengthening my ability to develop a clear and engaging visual system from research through to a resolved outcome.
